- Shayla started her career at Georgia State University as the administrative coordinator with the Title IV-E Child Welfare Program in 2006 before moving on to Georgia Strategic Prevention System first as a senior training and technical assistance coach through the School of Social Work then as evaluation project coordinator through the School of Public Health. She returned to Title IV-E with the programs re-launch in fall of 2015 as assistant project director.
Shayla holds a BA in print journalism from Georgia State University and a Master of Public Administration from Valdosta State University. She was also a participant in the Fall 2003 class of the Washington Center for Politics & Journalism.
She has worked as a reporter for publications in from New York, D.C., to metro Atlanta and has hosted a syndicated political talk radio show entitled “The Shayla Bennett Show,” on Genesis Communication Network. Shayla is a volunteer English and Language Arts GED instructor and has also volunteered as a certified Family to Family instructor with the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
